Um, I hate to sound like a typical crisis-having journaller, but: would anyone be hugely inconvenienced if this journal went entirely friends-only? I have codes to give out if people want to create blank accounts to read it, but, well, what I've written here is being used against me at work, so something's got to get sorted out. Anyone who reads and has an account, let me know and I'll friend you pretty much automatically.

Gah, for the inability of people to accept the difference between public and private life. This is exactly why I hate all people, without exception and without prejudice.

Doesn't bother me, but your work people suck.

Just a warning, I recently realised that all my 'friends only' post appeared on the friends pages of any communities I have friended. So I now use the lovely filters.

Damn! Because there are open communities on there. Still, the people I'm really bothered about don't have LJs, and if they were obsessive enough to get LJs, join the NaNoWriMo community, and use it to read my entries, I think I'd be entitled to tell them to stop complaining about my online activities.

One word. Filters. Just seperate the people/communities on your friends list into, well, a Communities group and a Friends group. THen when you chose the security, go to 'custom' and it'll bring up some tick boxes of your different friends groups, and you click the one with the friends in. That way the post won't end up on a Communities Friend Page

Hope that made some kind of sense. 'Cause I don't think it did.

To clarify - when you chose the security level when you update your journal. Just to make it a tiny bit more clear.

'tis done. There's now a group called "actual people", for the posting of things to be seen only by said actual people.

Actually, I have other filters- the "fandom" one, and the "personal" one. Should I attempt to make y'all paranoid by saying I'll never state who's on which, and you'll have to work it out? This would imply maybe more caring that is likely...

Hee. I have simillar. Actual 'people' and 'close friends.' Everyone's on people. Only a few made it to 'close friends.' Tis very useful.

conflicts with this (http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=81).

I can see some locked entries on the friends page of the only community I'm in, but they are all people who have me listed as a frend anyway so can't confirm you've seen a real problem or not.
