Um, I hate to sound like a typical crisis-having journaller, but: would anyone be hugely inconvenienced if this journal went entirely friends-only? I have codes to give out if people want to create blank accounts to read it, but, well, what I've written here is being used against me at work, so something's got to get sorted out. Anyone who reads and has an account, let me know and I'll friend you pretty much automatically.

Gah, for the inability of people to accept the difference between public and private life. This is exactly why I hate all people, without exception and without prejudice.

I don't have a problem, but maybe occasionally post the most random thing not-friends-only, just to keep people from getting paranoid?

(like, um, all the personal stuff and all the political stuff is friends-only, but that link to that site about dancing primates, that's for everyone)

[identity profile] cangetmad.livejournal.com 2002-10-29 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I probably should go that route. It's just that, you know, what with everything, I'm starting to get really paranoid about what I can say that isn't going to come back at me. Still. AntCam should be safe.

Hm. There is a misanthropy community, but it seems to be pretty much dead. Which kind of fits, really.

[identity profile] yiskah.livejournal.com 2002-10-29 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
It makes absolutely no difference to me, as I'm on your friends' list, but that sucks that this is causing problems at work. Rat bastards not respecting privacy.

[identity profile] stellanova.livejournal.com 2002-10-29 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
Aw, that's truly horrible. Commiserations.

(Anonymous) 2002-10-29 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I don't have a livejournal account, so you wouldn't be able to "friend" me. And I will actually miss your livejournals. Still, I do get why you're doing this.

Ahem. Signed, "The Missionary".

Doesn't bother me, but your work people suck.

Just a warning, I recently realised that all my 'friends only' post appeared on the friends pages of any communities I have friended. So I now use the lovely filters.

[identity profile] jinxremoving.livejournal.com 2002-10-29 05:44 am (UTC)(link)
i don't have anything profound or helpful to say, just general commiserations that people are being shit. sigh.

work stuff

[identity profile] seaya.livejournal.com 2002-10-29 07:08 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah that nearly happened to me until I stopped posting for a while and then changed jobs and such and took my livejournal off the top off google with their neat feature you can set...I hope it worked.

People generally like to suck just when you had faith in them. However, I don't recall you saying anything not nice about your workmates, so what the hell.

Otherwise, I enjoy your posts, so, if you can add me back to your friends list, or some subfilter, that'd be smashing.

No problem here. I'm sorry you're having troubles at work, though.

[identity profile] saraslash.livejournal.com 2002-10-29 12:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I've no problem w/ the friends only route...but that does really suck that your workmates are being all evil...I can certainly commiserate w/ your feeling of This is exactly why I hate all people, without exception and without prejudice sometimes. :) Hope things improve...good luck!

[identity profile] cangetmad.livejournal.com 2002-10-30 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
Damn! Because there are open communities on there. Still, the people I'm really bothered about don't have LJs, and if they were obsessive enough to get LJs, join the NaNoWriMo community, and use it to read my entries, I think I'd be entitled to tell them to stop complaining about my online activities.

One word. Filters. Just seperate the people/communities on your friends list into, well, a Communities group and a Friends group. THen when you chose the security, go to 'custom' and it'll bring up some tick boxes of your different friends groups, and you click the one with the friends in. That way the post won't end up on a Communities Friend Page

Hope that made some kind of sense. 'Cause I don't think it did.

[identity profile] alicamel.livejournal.com 2002-10-30 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
To clarify - when you chose the security level when you update your journal. Just to make it a tiny bit more clear.

[identity profile] cangetmad.livejournal.com 2002-10-30 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
'tis done. There's now a group called "actual people", for the posting of things to be seen only by said actual people.

Actually, I have other filters- the "fandom" one, and the "personal" one. Should I attempt to make y'all paranoid by saying I'll never state who's on which, and you'll have to work it out? This would imply maybe more caring that is likely...

Hee. I have simillar. Actual 'people' and 'close friends.' Everyone's on people. Only a few made it to 'close friends.' Tis very useful.

I understand your delima. I've just started a LJ and the problems have already started.

Your comment...

conflicts with this (http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=81).

I can see some locked entries on the friends page of the only community I'm in, but they are all people who have me listed as a frend anyway so can't confirm you've seen a real problem or not.

Could you add me to your friends list? I wandered over here via [livejournal.com profile] yonmei's journal.

Hello! [livejournal.com profile] wouldprefernot named you as an example of a good British LJer. I read a bunch of your posts and I am happy to agree. I have added you to my Friends list, and I would be delighted if you would add me, so that I can read any future Friends-Only posts.

Thank you very much! Good luck on finding that Bible.

Hey SK, that's not fair. [livejournal.com profile] wouldprefernot wrote that in my journal and you beat me here.

As for you, Brandnewgun, I enjoyed your unlocked entries and would love to be included in your "friends" list if you see fit.
