goddammit!

And here was me praying it was the milk snatcher. But of course, she's undead.

Seriously, if it'd been the milk snatcher, I'd have included a tinny audio version of the song. But Baroness Young will do for now.

Comfort yourself with the thought that Thatcher's now a demented loon wandering about with her pants on her head.

Lordy, I feel terrible.

But then I think about all the people they've cruelly shafted over the years and I gets my grave-dancin' shoes on.

senility

Wait, you mean that Maggie Thatcher has Alzheimers too?

That is karma if I ever saw it.

spoken like a true former employee of alzheimer scotland.

anyway, well done to her for dying.

Hey, I'm a current employee at Dementia Plaza, actually- the fab new job's only part-time, so I'm one of those newfangled flexible workers now.

So, yeah, that qualifies as occupational black humour. It's allowed. I'm fairly sure that the news we're getting about her indicates multi-infarct dementia. And it's Thatcher, so it's funny.

well yes, i must say i'm a fan of the image of thatcher wandering around with her pants on her head.

(sorry, hard to keep up with your job status, you know.)

Yes!

Um, wait, no. How terrible for her family.

Okay, that was a moment.

Yes!

:does the happy dance: I just love their description of her as a campaigner for 'family values'

Woohoo!
Yes, that was particularly amusing, just like how Iain Duncan Smith is a 'close friend' yet keeps going on about how the Tories are all 'tolerant' nowadays.

Anyway, enough with that, let there be parties and rejoicing :)

Her influence has been widely felt throughout the country

Yeah, like typhoid.

[identity profile] dolores.livejournal.com 2002-09-06 03:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I have visions of Iain Duncan Smith in a big black cape picking her up as lightning crackles from her hands and hurling her down a big hole, where she explodes and sends violent winds rushing back up as her death rattle sounds.

Sadly I imagine the truth was far less entertaining, but at least she's dead.

Wow. Now I really wish I knew more about English politics. Then I could fully appreciate all the catty humor.

But you know what really struck me about that article? It mentions that she was against lowering the homosexual age of consent. I am blindingly jealous that you even have a homosexual age of consent. Sodomy is still illegal in Texas (and in several other states).

[identity profile] cangetmad.livejournal.com 2002-09-07 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
We actually have an equal age of homo-consent, as well- she lost that battle. Sex at 16 for all!

Basically, Baroness Young got into every fight going on the side of the nuclear, married family. She was also closely associated with the Christian Institute, who are the main British fundie nutters' organisation. I'm actually really disturbed that the papers here, even the liberal ones, aren't making it clear what an evil, malign influence she was for many people in Britain.
